Hand-tufting: how a Panizza rug is born

Hand-tufting is the technique behind custom Panizza rugs: an artisanal process that allows for total freedom in design, colors, and dimensions, delivering a unique tactile and material quality.

What is hand-tufting

The yarn is hand-inserted through a stretched canvas, following the design outlined on the backing. This technique allows for different pile heights, textural contrasts, and free-form shapes, while maintaining artisanal control over every detail.

From the drawing to the finished rug

The studio design is transferred onto the canvas; hand-tufting, dyeing, and fixation follow; finally, shearing and finishing define the surface and edges. Every single phase is executed by hand.

Why choose a hand-tufted rug

Compared to industrial production, hand-tufting offers total customization of design, color, and size, as well as superior tactile and chromatic rendering — ideal for designer rugs and bespoke projects.
